Simon and his group of friends are located in the unremarkable town of Riverstone, Michigan. Life goes on as usual, nothing foreshadows trouble... and indeed, everything goes on as usual, and nothing foreshadows trouble; everyone lives in comfort and peace. There are no discords or intrigues in the country. Simon lives a typical teenage life, but he is deeply upset by a letter from his girlfriend, which disappeared during almost the entire summer break. Perhaps it was that letter that started it all? After all, oddly enough, it was after that letter that the lives of Simon and his friends, and not only them, went awry.
