SANC-31 Kuori is a new step in the development of dragon-machine interfaces. This term refers to the entire system rather than just the creature embedded in it, which is no more than a placeholder. This system can be seen as an exo-armour adapted to the morphology of its occupant, providing robust armour against slashes, bullets, shrapnel and even common projectiles up to 40 mm, including grenades.
Its long, agile legs, two of which actively replace the wings, limit the surface area in contact with the ground and therefore friction, to ensure a rapid pace reminding the gait of wyverns. The nozzles mounted on the dorsal shell act not only as heat sinks and vents, but also as thrusters for powerful jumps and rapid dashes. Since the weapon is deployed directly on the battlefield, it won't have the use of those old membranous limbs. In the event of a confrontation with creatures that still have their wings, this SANC is equipped with high-velocity harpoons capable of piercing the scales of its targets and, thanks to its barbs, keeping hold of the fleeing creature.
Underneath this same shell, which turns out to be retractable, a vast arsenal has been installed. From the twin 15mm machine gun to the 75 mm anti-material cannon, including a miniature MLRS, this SANC is capable of dealing with any type of adversary, whether human, human-made or endemic to this planet.

The organic and therefore cerebral part of Kuori is controlled by an experimental but innovative technique called noetic stasis, during which the body is completely inert while the nerve connections are still functional, in the manner of REM sleep.
Thanks to carefully measured stimuli sent by the various sensors that enable the Kuori to apprehend the environment around him, it is possible to project these impulses directly into the brain of the dragon and see it react directly to this, using the exo-armour as a natural extension of its body.
With the right conditioning upstream, Pavlovian reflexes can be developed to deal with typical combat situations and produce the desired reactions, including its deactivation to render it harmless until its next use.

It goes without saying that control based solely on Pavlovian reflexes, combined with weapons with zone effects, makes Kuori incompatible with direct integration into the army. It fights alone to avoid collateral damage, but its effectiveness alone justifies the singular use of such a weapon.

The Psychological Warfare Cell programmed the creation of a second clone.
Since the first, Alba, didn't meet expectations when it comes to fighting abilities, they had to keep going until they found the perfect individual.

And this time, fortune looked upon the project. This new specimen turned out to be capable of using four different affinities : air, water, ice and fire, whereas dragons are usually only able to use one. This creature therefore has a wide range of catalytic abilities at her disposal, allowing her to adapt to different situations. Fire can be very useful in urban theatres for clearing buildings, while ice can slow or even halt the progress of opposing troops.
Because of her great flying ability and her small size, this clone can deliver powerful air strikes, particularly dive-bombing, earning the codename "Stuka". In such a small body lies a colossal potential for destruction, making it an aerial artillery.

Stuka is found in a constant state of bliss. She's naive and innocent, really giving the impression that a child was being sent off to war without really knowing what it was all about or what was at stake. In her eyes, it all seemed like a game, and with all her goodwill, she complied without question. After all, seeing the flames carpet the ground where she delivered her bombardment was a rather pretty sight, in the same way that a child would be fascinated by a firework display.
It's impossible to know what psychological impact all these war scenes will have on Stuka. A child sowing destruction without the slightest awareness of it, seeing torn and charred bodies as if it was perfectly normal. Perhaps she will be able to remain balanced, unlike Alba who, despite her great maturity and composure, ended up cracking under the pressure she had placed on herself.

The last clone of Shimmy, the great genetic flexibility of the original body has this time given us a specimen with astounding properties.
It has to be said that her biological development stopped after a certain stage while her skull was not fully formed. Without human intervention, it would have died as soon as it was released. On the other hand, its brain is complete and her abilities have yet to be determined, although we do have a lead.
Her typical overgrown head is embedded in a half-sphere made of rigid polymers in the shape of a gas mask, which is connected to her organs. In the absence of a mouth, snout or nostrils, this mask filters the air and provides an inlet for food via a retractable catheter.

It has to be noted that she has no sense of smell or vision, as its biological development did not allow the formation of the front half of her skull, which unfortunately houses a number of senses. She's completely blind but not deaf, and it is through sounds that she grasps her environment. But this is no easy task, as her horns are fragile and two of them are particularly brittle and have deteriorated rapidly.
The red eyes on her mask are purely decorative but they also contribute to the psychological impact of such a creation.

She is totaly inert and seems to sit still all day, without changing stance. She reacts slowly to external stimuli by turning her head towards the source but does not provide any further reaction. In fact, she seems to have freed herself from the constraint of being fed. Blood tests showed that her metabolic rates did not vary whether she was fed or not, as if her body simply ignored nutrients. We don't know yet if she has no need for food or if it's a fondamental anomaly that may lead to a slow decay and eventually death.

She appears to be absolutely harmless, or at least toward humans.
Any endemic creature, sentient on the top of that, should not come close to Tiorma. Feedback reports an extremely intense psychological shock for the person approaching her, inducing leading to a variety of effects, including rapid death. One victim felt an uncontrollable withdrawal and cowering reflex run through their muscles as they found themselves plunged into a semi-awake state while the most abominable images they could imagine flashed before her eyes for a brief moment. Otherwise, spasms, convulsions and symptoms similar to an epileptic seizure can occur among the less fortunate, even leading to death.

Aisling is a 58 years old dragoness who is quite small for her age : roughly 2 meters high.
No sharp claws, no long fangs, no catalysis, a defenseless creature in direct combat.

She lives in a small community which can ensure her safety while she shares her abilities with others. Aisling is a valuable asset as she has the power to immerse her willing kin into a controlled torpor. Acting as an anaesthetic as well as a metabolic stasis, it is above all a mean to read the images that take shape in the dreamlike depths or to orchestrate what may be going on there, directing the cognitive process during a noetic therapy.
Nevertheless, the psyche of all sentient beings is crossed from time to time by fleeting uncontrollable thoughts that can interfere with the therapy. Whether stupid ideas or bitter memories, their ephemeral passage can creep into the stream of images directed at the patient.

This is what happened to Aisling's brother from the same litter, Eanna.
While Aisling has took the oath to remain virgin so as not to interfere with her cognitive process during her therapies, Eanna has not bothered with such constraints. Both share the same healing potential and the same noetic abilities and split the burden of a daunting task : keeping everyone healthy, mending scars and curing diseases. Yes, such is the might of spirit over body.
And if a proof was needed, Eanna has been caught in a turmoil involving this aspect during a therapy he initiated. In accordance with Aisling's warning, one evanescent thought assailed Eanna which instantly stopped the process. Nothing of importance happened right afterwards, but a few week laters, the outcome is out : Eanna's female patient was gravid.
The therapy triggered her autofecondation.

An absolute abomination. Eanna was banned without any form of trial and nobody ever heard of the eggs, probably destroyed or abandoned far away. Who could tolerate an offspring born from such an aberration ?
Aisling was on probation, a bit of Eanna's unfairly spilled on her. She was on the verge to be banned as well.
For a simple reason : Eanna's patient was Aisling herself.

Her respite was short-lived.
An epidemic swept the region. A harmless but annoying and alarming disease causing a temporary lethargy lasting several days. Massive cases of contamination made Aisling a suspect, as it was impossible to distinguish between the torpor caused by the dragoness and that caused by the disease.
So the culprit was obvious: Aisling. A sour revenge for her banished brother.

It was decided to gouge out her eyes, deemed to be the vector of her abilities.
Unsurprisingly, she was forced into exile. She's now living secluded, without the slightest hint of resentment, trying to look after the wandering souls that by some miracle or misfortune might come to her.

Geirfinna is a brightly coloured dragoness covered by brilliant turquoise scales, with a bright red wing membrane terminated by sharp blades, and she has the particularity of being endowed with what looks like fur.
It is in fact a material similar to horsehair, made up of colourless cartilage that is smooth to the touch. However, microscopic asperities create friction as the dragoness moves, generating heat that is then trapped between the hairs.
Its eyes are hidden by a fringe surrounded by braids. Her jewelled mane runs freely down her spine and across her pelvis. Her tail is wrapped in a huge braid with a brush-like tip. Her black claws shine in the faint light coming through the clouds.
It is true that she is beautiful and elegant, her cartilaginous fur giving her a unique charm, and the shape of their jaws gives the impression that they are constantly smiling, as if taunting their prey.

Geirfinna can inject a toxic venom with its fangs, attacking muscle and brain tissue. She doesn't really need to kill her prey, just inject it, wait for the fatal blow and then follow the trail to her meal.
Her mane hides her eyes, making it impossible to see what's going on in the depths. The only expression that emerges is that unchanging involuntary smile sculpted into her jaws.

Even in her behaviour, she shows refinement. She enjoys taking care of herself, likes to bathe in a pool of water near her nest, and enjoys feeding and watching the fish swim by.
Thanks to her brush-like tail, she is able to paint on recessed rocky surfaces, sheltered from the rain. Nature is her source of inspiration, which is why she enjoys exploring her surroundings in search of new ideas.

It has to be said that she and her twin sister live in a remote corner of the world. Green plains with a humid climate, they have made their home in the crevices of the coastal cliffs. The horizon is flat, with grass but few trees and bushes, wildlife is scarce and meals are few and far between. That's why it doesn't matter which creature has the misfortune to get lost in these vast lands, which dares to survey the twins' territory so vast that they themselves would not be able to determine its limits; it's a meal waiting to happen. They are not afraid to indulge in cannibalism. If a dragon crosses the region, they won't be picky.
All Geirfinna's refinement coupled with the possession of a considerable amount of space may have made the dragoness a little megalomaniacal. Rather than simply pouncing on prey, she and her sister tend to circle around it to destabilise it, before summoning the prey to its knees. Lost in these immense green lands, alone and threatened by two large dragonesses, the prey complies. The twins tighten their grip and close in on their target before grabbing it with their jaws and pulling it apart until one of its limbs breaks. They start again until wings, arms and legs alike are snatched from the body.

Synkkä's design is based entirely on the anatomy of a natural dragon: a carbon-titanium alloy frame imitates the skeleton of these creatures while maintaining a good lightness/solidity ratio.
On top of this are carbon-platinum fibres reproducing the musculature of a dragon, offering flexibility, strength and resistance thanks to materials of our own making. Like organic muscle fibres, the carbon-platinum fibres shorten when an electric current is passed through them, while gaining in strength. There's no need for servomotors, actuators or any other device to produce movement that offers only a few degrees of freedom. Here, these artificial fibres allow all the movements possible for a dragon, and more.
To protect these very strong muscles, polymer plates offer freedom of movement with a good compromise between flexibility and rigidity. It also provides complete protection against natural corrosion as well as acids and electrical currents.

This material is undoubtedly one of the most surprising aspects of Synkkä: the plastic is capable of self-regeneration thanks to a vascular system supplying the entire body. The porous plastic sheets allow the passage of these vessels and the delivery of replacement molecules that can be derived directly from organic matter. This means that all Synkkä has to do is ingest organic matter to store enough to remake the plastic parts if they were to break down.
If a vessel has to be cut open, it can also close itself up as it is made from the same material as the plastic armour: no bleeding possible.
However, synthesising the plastic requires a metal that cannot be found in the natural environment, so it has to be replenished when reserves are low. Autonomy is nevertheless excellent, thanks to the low consumption of this metal and the high resistance of the plastic, which is unlikely to be damaged.
Above all, the ingestion of organic matter is not vital to the machine; it is only used for regeneration and as a source of energy in emergencies. Synkkä can function perfectly normally without it.

The body of this machine is fully protected, whether by metal, rigid or flexible polymers. There are no gaps in the overall structure of the individual.
The head, which houses most of Synkkä's sensors, optics and processing centres, has naturally been fully armoured with high-resistance metal. Few moving parts required more flexible plastic parts, such as those on the neck or back.

In terms of weaponry, this machine has been equipped with a complete arsenal capable of dealing with all known threats, conventional or otherwise.
It's a simple but surprising idea to have decided to use the most malleable and readily available weapon: air.
Synkkä is one of the few weapons to work with a portable fusion reactor, otherwise found in space equipment. Such machinery generates an immense amount of heat that can be harnessed in the form of a weapon.
The tail acts as a heat sink, storing the excess heat and hiding it under a thick armour that provides a drastically reduced heat signature. In combat, this heat can be used in a variety of ways.

Like a spit of flame, Synkkä can eject burning air from its mouth. This heat is enough to cause severe burns to body tissue and to melt scales or plastic. However, it can do nothing against metal, bone, horns or pectoral plates.
This air is hot enough to be sensitive to magnetic fields, allowing it to be channelled in the form of beams or pulses. Unlike a spray of air, in which the energy is dispersed, a beam of air, and above all an impulse, concentrates much more energy in a reduced volume intended to impact a smaller surface.
The result is a kind of 'cold' plasma capable of piercing even the hardest materials and even piercing a target through and through.

The smaller mouth offers less firepower than the wings, which can deliver high-powered shots.
The arm and outer finger of each wing is capable of producing a much longer, more directed magnetic field.
In the natural position, the magnetic field produced is short, allowing dispersed air fire at short range.
When the wings are extended forward, the outer finger is in line with the outstretched arm, tripling the length of the magnetic field and enabling a very long-range, highly accurate wave to be projected.
The cabling connecting each finger diffuses and directs the air backwards, enabling flight: rather than flapping its wings, Synkkä ejects hot air at high speed. The cabling is elastic, so it can continue to perform its role even when the wings are extended. Similarly, the wings can be used as a weapon, ejecting hot air to defend the rear, but they can also form a fiery curtain if Synkkä wraps himself between his wings.
As an extra measure of protection, they can even generate a veritable plasma for defensive purposes, vaporising any small- or medium-calibre projectiles thrown at them.
If discretion isn't an option, the heat can be diffused throughout the body to ensure that opponents trying to come into contact with Synkkä can't strike a blow. Not twice, in any case.
Finally, air can also be expelled through vents located on the neck, chest, back and pelvis to generate a large burning cloud all around the machine.

Its anti-dragon weaponry is the very best in the anti-Ether field.
A beam of electrons, completely harmless to organic tissue, spat out of the mouth breaks up the Ether in the atmosphere and literally forces autocatalysis in mid-air.
The Ether around the electron beam disappears violently in ocean-blue flames, pulverising everything in contact with it. What's even more amazing is that this electron beam can explode the Ether in a dragon's body.
As Synkkä uses absolutely no Ether in any of his weapons, he is completely immune to this electron beam as well as to all types of anti-Ether and Ether-locked weapons.

More conventionally, Synkkä is equipped with sharp metal claws that can electrify and sound or even paralyse its targets, or heat up white-hot to cut through harder materials.
A retractable harpoon at the end of its tail can be used to hold down distant prey, preventing it from fleeing or taking flight while bringing it to the ground. Also electrified, it can incapacitate opponents from a great distance and bring them towards it.
The wingtip thrust work in the same way as the claws, but are longer. They are certainly less manoeuvrable due to their positioning and articulation, but Synkkä can perform wider sweeps with them.
Its powerful jaws are capable of crushing and shredding, but not cutting. Metal can be bent but will still remain in one piece. The thinner layers can be punctured by the fangs, while the flesh is inevitably splintered.
Its perforating horns are more aesthetic than utilitarian. They can, however, be used to impale targets and possibly hit vital organs directly, particularly in the chest.
